The Beginning
Rad Dox iFind grew out of a favor. In the late 1990s, founder Rich Smith — already an established corporate recruiter — began helping radiologists in training find their first positions, pro bono, as a favor to a personal connection. What started as happenstance revealed something the physician search industry was missing: radiologists were being recruited by generalists who didn't understand radiology.
In 2006, Rich formalized that work and founded Rad Dox iFind as a search firm dedicated entirely to radiologists. Two decades later, we've grown — but we've stayed deliberately hands-on. Every search is still led personally, from first call to signed contract.
Our Approach
Radiology recruiting comes down to relationships and specificity. A neuroradiologist evaluating an academic position, a breast imager weighing a partnership track, and a general radiologist looking for a nationwide remote role are three very different searches — and we treat them that way.
We invest time up front with both sides. With hiring groups, we dig into case mix, volumes, call structure, technology, and culture before we ever present a candidate. With radiologists, we learn what actually matters — subspecialty fit, schedule, family, geography, long-term goals — at the grass-roots level.
We also stay close to the radiology job market year-round, tracking compensation trends, subspecialty demand, and the ongoing shift toward remote and hybrid reading, so our clients and candidates decide with current data, not guesswork.
Our Values – Inclusion
We work with radiologists from every background and training path — U.S. and internationally trained, new fellows and late-career physicians — and with hiring organizations from solo imaging centers to national health systems. Different points of view make better matches, and we think and work as one team.
Our Values – Integrity
We say what we mean and do what we say. Radiologist job searches are confidential by nature — many of our candidates are employed and quietly exploring — so we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards in safeguarding your information. No résumé is ever presented without your permission.
Our Values – Knowledge
We are insatiably curious about the radiology market. We track radiologist compensation benchmarks, subspecialty supply and demand, teleradiology trends, and what's happening inside groups at the grass-roots level — and we share that intelligence openly with the radiologists and clients we serve.
Our Values – Performance
We never settle for the status quo or the “next available” candidate. Success for us is a radiologist who's still glad they made the move five years later, and a group whose new partner made the practice stronger. We measure ourselves against that standard on every search.
Our Ethics
Behaving with integrity has been central to Rad Dox iFind since our founding in 2006, and it remains the core of our operations and culture.
For us, ethics is also empathy. We understand what it means when a radiologist finds a position that provides not just income but dignity — the right practice, the right partners, the right life. And we equally understand what it means to a radiology group when the right hire lets the practice grow, cover its call, and serve its community.
That emphasis is why radiologists and hiring organizations continue to return to Rad Dox iFind, and why we're able to employ what we consider the best team in radiology recruitment. People want to work with a firm they can feel good about.
